Production Tasks are instructions to follow in order to complete Production in the desired manner.

Production generally involves more than 1 step and so a set of instructions is required. To create a set of instructions we can create a 'Production Task Template'.

Create a Production Task Template

To do this, navigate to 'Production' > 'Maintenance' > 'Production Task Templates'.

At the top-left of the screen, press the 'New Production Task Template' button.

Type in the 'Name' and 'Description' of the Template. If you check the 'Inactive' box then this template will not be selectable or usable.

Under 'Template Tasks', we can add individual tasks. To add a task click on the empty line labelled 'Click here to add a new row and fill in the required fields.

In the 'Task' field, type out a single instruction. Each task represents a single step in the production process.

In the 'Production Route' field, select a Production Route from the drop-down menu.

Go here for more information on how to Setup Production Routes.

In the 'Assign To' field we can select the Paradigm User responsible for completing this task from the drop-down menu.

The 'Seq' field or Sequence field represents the order in which the tasks must be completed. In the example below, "Demo Instruction 1" must be completed first.

Once all of your tasks have been added, click the 'Save' button at the top-left of the screen.

Assign a Production Task Template to a BOM

Navigate to 'Production' > 'Maintenance' > 'Bill Of Material'

For more information on how to Create Bill Of Materials, go here.

Double-click on the 'Bill Of Material' you wish to add 'Production Tasks' to in order to open it. Navigate to the 'Task Instructions' tab.

Under 'Linked Task Template' use the drop-down menu to select the desired 'Production Task Template' to be assigned to this BOM.

Once The 'Production Task Template' has been selected, the individual tasks from the template will be listed out in the panel below.

Processing Production Tasks On A Production Ticket

When processing a Production Ticket, once you have selected the required 'Bill Of Material', the 'Production Tasks' associated with the BOM will be applied to the 'Production Ticket'.

On the 'Production Ticket', navigate to the 'Tasks' tab. Here you will find the instructions loaded from the 'Production Task Template'

You can add extra 'Tasks' by clicking the 'New Task' button or clicking on the empty row labeled 'Click here to add a new row'. Fill in the required fields as before

Make sure to click save after you have made changes or added new tasks.

To begin processing a 'Production Task' first click on the task to select it. It will be highlighted in orange to indicate that it has been selected. You can then click the 'Set Task In Progress' button.

This will change the 'Task Status' to 'In Progress'.

Once the task is complete, you can then click the 'Set Task Complete' button which will set the 'Task Status' to 'Completed'

Alternatively, you can complete tasks by timing them and recording the task completion on a 'Timesheet'. First select the task you wish to complete, Set the 'Task Status' to 'In Progress' and the click the 'Start Timesheet' button.

The 'Timesheet' details will be indicated on the panel to the right and the 'Timing Status' of the task will change to 'Started'.

Whether the task has been completed or you are done working on the task for now and wish to complete it another time, you may now push the 'Stop Time Sheet' button.

The 'Timing Status' will now change back to 'Stopped'.

You can now press the 'Set Task Complete' button to complete the task as well as set the 'End Time' on the timesheet.

The 'Total Time' and the 'Total Time Hours' can now be calculated. For example the tasks below took a total of 0.33 hours/19.8 minutes to complete.

Depending on the nature of the task, approval may be required before completion. You can set the 'Task Status' by selecting 'Pending Approval' in the drop-down menu.

Once approved, clicking the 'Set Task Complete' button will complete the task as usual.

In the case that approval of a tasks completion is declined, the 'Declined' Task Status can be selected. In these cases a 'Declined Reason' must be provided.

Depending on your customized Paradigm experience, you may or may not have this column displayed. You can use the 'Column Chooser' to place it on the 'Tasks' screen.

For more information on how to use the Column Chooser, go here.

You can view a full list of all 'Production Tasks' by navigating to 'Production' > 'Processing' > 'Production Tasks'.

Here you may also set the 'Task Status' as well as generate 'Production Timesheet's.

You can view a list of all 'Production Timesheets' by navigating to 'Production' > 'Processing' > 'Production Timesheets'.

The list view of all the 'Production Timesheets' are separated by the 'Production Ticket' that they have been assigned to. Use the global filter at the top of the screen to set the list view to display 'Production Timesheets' for tickets that are either 'In Production' or in 'Reconciling'.

Please note that the 'Production Timesheets' cannot be edited.
